Revenge

I've been pretty emotionally detached from Revenge this whole season, so I wasn't expecting it to break my heart.

I really, really did not expect them to kill off Amanda. I mean, I guess I kind of expected it earlier in the season, before she had the baby, but once she recovered from her coma I honestly thought she was safe. I didn't even use to like her very much, but she's grown on me a lot and I actually cried in that scene where she died.

I really loved that scene with Emily and Nolan in the boat, united by their desperation about Jack (OMG they are both so in love with him), but I was so happy that Emily stayed behind to help Amanda. She has used Amanda so much throughout the show, but at least in this episode she seemed to authentically care for her. (Though, God, to have Amanda die because she went back to get the necklace Emily gave her that proves they were sisters was a little too much, I think--I don't doubt that Emily does feel a certain sense of connection to her, but she also never failed to exploit her whenever she needed her for the mission. I don't know. I go back and forth with whether I think Emily is ultimately a sociopath who is good at self-delusion, or if she does have real human feelings).

Meanwhile, I feel pretty bad for Padma (though I'm not sure that a finger/a hand or whatever more is in that box is actual proof of life, any more than a video that turns out to be six years old would be).

And Daniel has pretty much lost all of his innocence now, hasn't he. Not that I care, because I've never liked him, but his fall is clearly parallel to Victoria's fall twenty years earlier. No one in this show really gets to stay innocent, I guess. That makes me wonder what's going to happen to Jack after he finds out about Amanda's death.
