Smallville and SPN

I only have a couple comments on Booster:

1. Clark continues to make me all verklempt when he inspires people to heroism, even when he does it second hand via Booster. (But I also loved him inspiring Booster).

2. Lois is the best girlfriend ever.

3. I love when Clark is getting his klutz on. And I can't decide if the nerd glasses look better on him or Lois.

That's pretty much it--this ep felt pretty much like filler to me. I didn't even like Cat Grant all that much, and usually I think she is charming even while being annoying.

A slightly longer commentary on "Frontierland"

1. I do love that we're getting more heavenly politics now, with hints that Castiel is doing bad bad things--so bad that Rachel completely rebels and tries to kill him, only to get ganked herself. And damn, I really love that wing shadow effect when angels die.

2. Wounded Cas showing up at Bobby's is straight out of, like, 1000 D/C h/c fics. Though usually it would be Dean's soul he was sticking his hand in. (Narrowly avoids the obvious fisting joke).

3. Dean the fanboy cracked me up. And we got to see both his scifi nerdiness (Going star trek iv! And neither Sam nor Bobby knew what he was talking about because Bobby had only watched DS9!!) and his overwhelming western nerdiness (I laughed so hard at the serape, and the fact that he was Clint Eastwood and Sam was Walker Texas Ranger--hee! Not to mention the scary-looking prostitute, and the general reality of western life not living up to his movie expectations. Oh, Dean. *Pets him*).

Plus SO many great lines? Candygram for Mongo! Howdy Pilgrim! Oh, Dean, you are really a fan.

4. Campbell library! Actual journal of Sam Colt! I really hope they brought a truckload of books back to Bobby's.

5. Bobby, Bobby. You're too self-sacrificing for your own good. And it's interesting to find out that souls are an energy source, though also kind of scary. And I loved the gratuitous Deadwood reference.

6. The stereotypical gun battle just made me laugh, though. It almost serves them right to have missed the ashes. (Why do I think maybe Samuel Colt will end up preserving them and leaving a note? I mean, Sam did tell him he was from 2011. And, I think, left his cell phone behind.)

AND HE DID! Holy fuck, I actually called that plot point. I don't usually write commentary as I go without at least editing at the end, but I'm leaving in my total genius at predicting the entirely predictable. :-)

"Soul-onoscopy! Hee!

Why do I think, by the way, that the souls in Purgatory are going to become pivotal in Castiel's end game, and that's the real reason he's helping them?
