Friday's TV, that is, since I am only now starting to catch up.
There was pretty much nothing about this episode I didn't love, so here's just a list of things that especially stood out for me:
1. I cheered when Tess sent the Kandorian dogtags back to Zod. I may not always agree with her methods or motives (like threatening to terminate the computer geek and refusing to clarify what sort of termination she meant), but DAMN was I happy that she proved she was a formidable opponent to Zod. I really wanted at least one woman in this episode to come out on top. It kind of made up for Mia having to be rescued.
2. Speaking of which, I like that Oliver is taking the personal route when it comes to hero-ing, because it really felt real to me, that he would identify with Mia given what he's just gone through. But I also like that Mia at first resisted his help because she didn't want to be indebted yet again.
I *really* wish she had gotten to kill her pimp, though, or in some other way allowed to be her own rescuer.
3. The Chloe showdown with Tess's computer geek was the cutest thing ever, up until she blackmailed him at the end (which seems in keeping with her new persona, though I'm surprised Clark didn't object to her plan when he heard it. Though maybe he thought she was joking?) Is he supposed to be the new love interest, though? I'd really prefer it to be Emil.
4. I always love Clark-Lois banter, and this week was no exception. The morning show idea was hilariously out of left field (I loved Ollie's snarky comment about Clark teaching cake baking), but it does make sense to me that Lois wants to keep being a journalist even if print newspapers die out, and of course she roped Clark into helping her.
I don't know if they're really Tracy and Hepburn, but their online dating antics --especially their commentary to each other before their respective blind dates--was very enjoyable. I did wish Lois was a little more secure in the dating sphere (or maybe the TV news sphere): like Clark and Ollie, I wish she felt comfortable acknowledging her true interests, even if they are beer and monster truck rallies.
5. I was a little uncertain about them bringing back Ollie's feelings for her (especially since I was very invested in that relationship at the time, so I really felt both of their pain when Lois said "I love you, Oliver, as a dear friend, which is why I have to be honest with you." Ouch, ouch, ouch), but on the other hand, since it did seem to be hanging over their heads, maybe it was good to get it resolved. ANd I'm glad they were both really honest with each other.
I was even gladder that it didn't pose a real threat to Clark and Lois' budding relationship, though. Yes, we got the "nobly self-sacrificing even though it breaks my heart" shot of Clark, as he mistakenly thought the hug on the roof indicated Lois really wanted Ollie (and honestly? Clark is hot when angsty, so I didn't mind), but then Chloe of all people gave him good relationship advice and then KISSAGE.
YAY KISSAGE!!!!
WHITE COLLAR
I also enjoyed White Collar a lot this week, though more for the character dynamics than the actual plot. The writers clearly want fandom to go in a threesome direction, don't they? I love that Neal deliberately got Elizabeth involved in the party planning, and I especially liked that scene of them raiding FBI seized property storehouses for goodies.
I also kind of want to know what Peter knows about Prada bags!
I think my favorite bit was Elizabeth giving Peter back his original watch--knowing him well enough to know that he didn't really like the one she got him. My second favorite part was Neal making Peter be his "bodyguard" and teaching him how to look menacing.
