Further adventures of Max the cat

Well, We certainly haven't been bored since last Mother's Day. He has taken up bug hunting now - I didn't know that cats could fly. No really, He reminds me of those Asian warriors who chased each other with swords while flying across the trees. The flies and Ladybugs are trying to get in the house to avoid the colder nights - so every time we open the front door a new supply of victims enters to invigorate the Great White Hunter. The hunt starts like this: He starts off with tensing all over - then emits a sort of high pitched bark (I didn't know that cats could bark) if the bug is on the ceiling, Then he will jump at least 6 feet trying to reach it - this can go on for hours, depending on how high the bug is. Sometimes he will launch himself off of the sofa or other furniture - all with single minded ferocity! Last night, to end the insanity, I held him up to reach the Ladybug that was sitting on the wall near the ceiling. He jumped out of my arms and just barely missed the bug. Then I swished at the prey with the newspaper to make it fly lower - cat grabbed it in his clawless paws and crunched up on the spot. It's nice to have a bug removal specialist in the house.
