Norway's Royal Palace in Oslo has opened to the public again this summer, and this year it features a special exhibit of royal belongings.
The exhibition "Two lives, one calling" celebrates the 70th birthdays of King Harald and Queen Sonja.
1) Fashion drawings made by Queen Sonja long before she married Norway's crown prince. 2) This excerpt from a school autograph book shows Sonja's greeting to a classmate during the war years. She drew the then-forbidden symbol for King Haakon VII, and in a prophetic move, encircled it in a heart. 3) The palace reception room known for its bird murals is part of the tour.
1) Here's a royal model railway that was a favourite childhood toy. 2) The frog king, a favorite toy of grandchildren visiting the king and queen.
1) A bottle of aquavit from the prince's baptism in 1937 has been well preserved. 2) A picture of five-year-old Harald in Air Force uniform, when he was named "honorary Air Force fighter wing officer". Next to the photo is a model of a jet fighter and on the box it reads: "To Prince Harald from the boys in Toronto".
1) The queen's bridal gown has been exhibited at the Palace before, so this time the engagement gown is on show - as well as the yellow evening dress with pearl embroidery worn at the pre-wedding dinner. 2) Prince Harald used this sweater as a three-year-old to Holmenkollen in 1940. He also wore it when he fled to Sweden with his mother and sister in April that year. 3) Uniforms and gowns are also on display
