For the Dead Like Me fans

Some lucky Canadians have already managed to watch the new Dead Like Me movie on New Year's Day... One of them wrote a spoiler-free review on the TV-movie that spawned from the series...

Here's the link

A short ramble
Somehow, I kind of expected that they would have a shit load of trouble topping Rube, or even making the new guy half as memorable. Where Rube was definitely not a loud character, but he had his own quiet way of standing out. He had a presence, that was assertive but gentle at the same time. He was secretive. Compassionate. He was a very unique character and a very unique leader. He also had the saddest back-story ever. He had very strong two episodes, namely A. Cook (Season 1) and also Always (Season 2).

"Daisy was potentially my favourite character in the original series, but here she is tragically and disastrously mishandled... What we're left with is a portrayal that borders on sexist. Sure, Daisy would ramble on about her sexual escapades, but she wasn't a sex-obsessed moron."

Tragedy!

The appeal of Daisy, I've always felt, was from her cool demeanor during inappropriate situations. I think that made her really amusing to watch. Like when she took over George's room and demanded after the first night, "Did you use my face cream?!" And whenever she told those... stories. Saying things like, "I blew Babe Ruth" once, while everyone just rolled their eyes and continued eating.

And of course there's Daisy's secret, which allowed you to forgive her for being such a prat at first.

I'll prolly still watch it. Can always stop halfway if it manages to piss me off a little too much.

Wish I could watch it with you, Gary!
