A Year in Review: Fic!

The currently untitled fic for Starry's pup: Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Placido/Yuusei. AU in which Yuusei lost due to misusing Accel Synchro and ended up being 'napped and replaced by a bot. Mostly focuses on after he's been bent to Placido's will and doesn't really focus on how he ended up at that point. I've been considering writing fic on how it all came about, but it seems to be an excuse for writing more porn. Because yes, there's blatantly hinted at porn in this one. And okay, fine, I wrote it in December. But it became available to the public in January. So there. XD It's probably the fic that made me more open to the Placidosei pairing and now it's one of my favorite shippin's. Oh god.

No Help Needed : Ryuusei no Rockman. Crack fic, no pairings. A small ficlet exploring a small "humorous" moment that's activated in the third game by a special equip item called "Humor," that exposes a surprisingly childish side to Solo. I always wanted to write something from that moment, since it really shows how much of a child Solo still could possibly be despite how adverse to society he is.
Untitled Request Fic : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Crow/Aki, potentially Crow/Aki/Kiryuu friendship-ish. AU in which Crow and Aki run off to Satisfaction Town. No seriously. And it's serious fic. Not crack fic. And I wrote it for Immi. That part is probably obvious. I almost forgot about this fic 'cuz it was in her journal. XD
No Rest : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, could be seen as Kiryuu/Yuusei. Angstfic from the Martyr!Verse AU, possible behind the scenes played by imprisondmartyr and shatteredleader/martyrskeeper in yugioh_dr. I adored playing these guys with Icey, and lots of similar scenes have come up in my head since then. Maybe I'll write them at some point.
Anniversary : Ryuusei no Rockman. Gen fic, can be seen as Subaru/War-Rock pairing. Inspired from a hilarious line from the dub!verse in the third game, in which War-Rock snarks about Akane never making his favorite food if one looks at the kitchen at some point in the story. Written for Starry after she expressed a wish for goodfic for the pairing and I didn't feel like sifting through the pit for them. I must say I find the relationship between a boy and his pet alien quite adorable, and it's a dynamic I still try to get right with kizunaprotector.

Mix-Up : Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Gen fic, with a bit of Sho/Carly friendship. In which a reporter and a tournament sponsor bond over mixed up glasses and DMG fandom. Written for Pidge after she drew adorkable fanart with the two wearing each other's glasses and we speculated over how that would happen in the real world. I must say it's one of the fics I can really see happening in canon, if it allowed for crossovers.
Filling the Emptiness : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Gen fic, can be seen as Team Satisfaction general friendship. Written for a challenge at ygo_5ds and also for a prompt for 5ds_100. Basically exploring a possible way that Kiryuu could have met the others. It's one I struggled with, because I wanted it to be something that could be plausible in the series timeline and in canon. But I'm fairly satisfied with the results.

Lol Roleplay : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. In which people request fic about one of my characters and one of their characters. So you get things like Dub!Carly meeting AU!Aki. It's a bit strange. But fun! And I totally enjoy writing things about my characters because it really helps me figure out their characters and see if I understand other characters. :3

Several stupid one-sentence fics : Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Earthbound/Mother 2, & Eyeshield 21. Written without rhyme or reason, as requested by the memehoars. Involves silly things like Crimson Dragon meeting Giygas, and serious things Dark Signer!Pearson. I really don't know how you people come up with these ideas. Except I do. Because we talk about them in chat.

Slippery Slope : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Written for a prompt at 5ds_100. Basically exploring the time between Team Satisfaction's final triumph to just before their final downfall, wondering how they could have fallen so far. Written mostly because I was surprised at how long it had been since I had written fic for anything, and for that poor abandoned hundred-fics chart.
Because I can never resist writing memes : Meme in which I'd continue fic I'd already written in the past or the future. And then Immi requested Crow and Aki in Satisfaction Town one year later. So I made Aki pregnant. Oh yeah, and they get married. And everything is hunky-dory. And it's still not crackfic. The end.
Round-Trip : Pokemon Black & White games. N x Main Character. Written after I saw some rough translations of the infamous "Ferris Wheel" scenes in the game, and I didn't quite understand why N would rattle on about inane things like he did. It didn't really match up. So I wanted to delve into his mindset a little. My first Pokemon fic after so many years, and I must admit I was apprehensive after the clusterfuck that was my first. But I think I did decently enough.
Soaps : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Genfic. Dub-verse. Crackfic written for Immi. Again. Basically us going LOL over Jack and Crow supposedly making fun of Zola's Duel Monster soap operas. But it really sounded like they were actually dying to know. Jack's especially.
Remote : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Genfic. Dub-verse. Moar crackfic for Immi. Somewhat-sequel to Soaps. In which the Tenors watch television. But that's nothing new. Oh, by the way, this is the original thread they spawned from.

But really, you wouldn't get what was going on without that thread. Really. But this is the birthplace of the miniature evil gods that make up Team Satisfaction. And Immi wrote fic too. And I made pictures. But this is really about my fic. :V
Works in Progress : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's & Pokemon. A collection of snippets from various fic ideas. In order: snapshot from the next chapter of One and Not the Same, a possible continuation of Martyr!Verse RP fic, a Marowak/Cubone story, introspective Bruno fic, and canon!Martyrverse fic that's set so far into their future that I'll probably never write it.

The Ditty of the Diminutive Deities : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. AU. Genfic. Hey, something with an actual title! :V Basically it's the backstory of the evilgodsatisfaction!verse. Yes, I bothered to think up of one. And it's written in fail!limericks. Fail as in they aren't really limericks because they don't follow the syllable pattern. But they follow the A-A-B-B-A rhyme scheme! :D

Misguidance : Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Speculationfic. Can be seen as Z-ONE x All those hot old guys in the future. Z-ONE centric. Basically I wondered what Z-ONE's mindset might be, and so then I wrote it. It's also a Christmas giftfic for Starry.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Definitely less. I frankly thought I'd be writing more often this year. Guess school and real life and RP really got to me, huh?
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2010?
Placidosei. And Z-ONE x Anybody but Yuusei. But it works. Also I never really thought I'd be writing something for Pokemon after all these years. That's how powerful Black and White is, people! GO BUY IT.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
I can't chooooose. ;A; A lot of fics I enjoy for different reasons, and I'm not one to pick favorites. ;w;
