So... I've caught the first three episodes of True Blood and what can I say, I'm still looking forward this Sunday. That says something, yeah?
My boss actually handed me the first book in the Southern Vampire Series, Dead Until Dark last year and told me to read it, so I already knew the plot and whatnot. Although, that was over a year ago and the details are bit fuzzy now.
- As for the show itself, I'll admit, it is a bit of a cheese-fest, but if you don't take it too seriously, it's fun. I love seeing how different authors handle the (to quote the show) vampires "out of the coffin" angle. They all put their own twist on it.
- When I first heard Anna Paquin would be playing Sookie, I was totally against it. I've seen X-Men too many times and just couldn't get past the image of her as Rogue and see her as a blue-eyed, buxom blond. But after the pilot episode, I had changed my mind. She does attractive, blond waitress very well actually. She plays Sookie as an innocent, but not overly so, to the point where you yell, "oh, come on already," get annoyed, and change the channel. So it's all good.
- I think Bill is hot. Not quite sure yet. Really diggin' the whole southern gentleman thing though. ("May I call on you?") You just know that underneath it all he just wants to rip Sookie's clothes off. *snort* Okay. Yeah, he's hot.
- I'm not very good with southern accents, so I could care less if Tara's got too much twang to hers (or anybody else for that matter), but I do know that I like her. Although this is where my memory of the book gets fuzzy because I can't remember if she was actually in it. I can vaguely recall someone seriously having a jones for Jason, but I could be wrong. Anyway, Tara's fun. I like her attitude and that underneath it all, she's vulnerable.
- Lafayette is the shit. And grandma Stackhouse does indeed know all.
- Jason is a dumb ass and I dislike most scenes with him.
- I'll admit, I had to refresh myself on the book plot at Wikipedia, but this part really caught my eye: *highlight to read* Sookie and her cousin Hadley were molested by her great uncle at a very early age, but so far, there's been no mention of it on the show. I'm wondering if they're going to at all.
I kinda suck at reviews, so...
Let's look at poor, silly Jason instead. :]
