“You hunt with Lord Robert all the time.” Theodred said pointedly, shouldering his rifle.
“True.” Howard shrugged. “However, it is also true that I enjoy a certain degree of freedom here. Outside, it is not so kind.”
Theodred had to agree with that. Lord Robert hadn’t taken him to a party until last year, wherein he had the misfortune to somehow overturn the punch bowl in his haste to get away from his peers before he smashed a chair over their heads. They had been talking about… well, how their family was nobler than everyone else’s, even the von Evereux. They called Lord Robert an old fool, and Theodred had been angry then. They even called him a tramp, that Lord Robert had taken him in only because he wanted to show his so called support for the lower classes, or start a fad and have nobles take in poor children for fun.
