I am so proud of myself, to say the least.
I have finally finished both assessment pieces that are due tomorrow. All I have to do now is photocopy the sources and add them to the exam package - that and actually print out the assessments to hand in haha. But you know. Awesomeness. Sweet as. All that jazz.
Instead of four primary sources and two visuals, I am having two visuals, two primary sources, and two secondary sources. I think that is much better.
Oh man ... some aspects of Australian grammar drive me up the wall. Especially the use of the comma. If I am making a list, I think that a comma should be put in front of the word "and", especially if there are some groupings where there needs to be an "and" between two items but you need the word right after the second word to complete the list. I don't know, it just bothers me. I feel as though ... It just does not make as much sense as you cannot really tell the end of the sentence as easily that way.
I am so skipping my second lecture and tutorial today. So I'll go to the tutorial in about an hour and a half but that's it. I am fed up with the other class and am not happy about how my tutor marked me and since we don't have anything more that is getting marked by her, I do not feel that I need to be there. I really really don't. And it's great that they are going to talk about the interview process but ... each interview is completely different and I feel that they have not even given us any indication of how to put our portfolio together or even create an appropriate resume. The other thing is the one lecture I thought would be useful (because it was supposed to be about special education) was the most useless lecture out of the whole series. I feel very disconcerted with the whole program. Well, not the whole program, but a good majority of it.
I was happily surprised with the Distinction I got on the last 606 assignment. I thought for sure I would only get a Pass. Gee, maybe I should write all my assignments in one day haha. Yeah, right. It really doesn't mean anything though - I mean, it does, I guess. But it means nothing in my performance as a teacher: I was using the four resources model to dissect a Doggy Daycare ad for goodness sake. That's the kind of thing I am talking about: It means absolutely nothing to how I am as a teacher. Give me something useful. Like different strategies I can use to help students that have poor literacy skills. Oh wait, that is my last assignment with which you are not giving any indication of how to write or any skills you may implement. Gee, you might as well have given a self teach course of literacy as opposed to wasting our time since we need to figure it out ourselves anyway.
End rant.
So I am finding a purse to go with that dress and shoes instead of going to class. Oh, and going to dinner and a movie (Wall-ee, I think).
And Oh I just found out some poor girl was sexually assaulted last night
Dear all
Last evening Wednesday 17 September 2008, at approximately 7.00pm, one of our students was sexually assaulted while walking onto the Campus from Scholars Way.
The attacker is described as:
· Caucasian male, tall, slight build, no facial hair
· Australian accent
· Wearing dark navy pullover top with emblem on front.
· Dark (possibly black) elastic waist shorts.
If you recognise this description or saw someone acting suspiciously around this area, the Brasserie or the Bus Stop at around 6.30 pm to 7.00 pm on the evening of Wednesday 17 September 2008, please contact the Maroochydore Police or University Security.
Personal Safety on Campus
While the campus is usually a safe environment to study and visit, incidents like this remind us that we are not immune from the broader community - staff, students, and visitors need to remain conscious of their personal safety, particularly after dark.
Some after dark personal safety strategies include:
· Please use the lighted footpath from Scholars Way onto to the campus rather then the unlighted path.
· Walk with a colleague or in a group rather than walk alone.
· If travelling alone is unavoidable call Security for a security escort.
· Keep the Security number on your speed-dial.
Greenlink
The unlighted path between the campus and Scholars Way is due to be replaced in October 2008 with the new bus interchange greenlink. This greenlink will include a new lighted and monitored foot and bicycle pathway connecting the University to Scholars Way.
