Change of plans

Well, I've started that Spec Ed course and am almost finished. Just five days left (including today). Pretty good course. And not too hard either. I mean, I got an A on the presentation last week haha. Just two assignments left. There's this one woman that drives everyone absolutely up the wall because she just seems to talk for the sake of hearing her own voice. I am really hoping that that's not how she listens to her students when in the classroom: by listening with her mouth. It's just so frustrating. Especially when you're making a presentation and she has these inane questions. For example ... talking about Fragile X Syndrome and she goes on about this person she met at a dinner party who is hairless with the exception of the hair on their head and I cannot mention the other things at the dinner party because it would be too gross. Um, it doesn't sound anything close to what I am talking about so anyone else have any experience ... thirty seconds later back on the topic. Or giving examples of effective guest speakers (how they were effective) and she goes on about how her son saw a presentation done by the police of what to do if someone tries to abduct you and that the presentation stuck with him because someone did try to abduct him at some point and he followed the exact steps. When asked why it was effective she went on about the fact it stuck with him and it ended up that she didn't know what was effective about the presentation. Or how about going on about how her ears are so blocked so she cannot hear very well while out instructor is letting us know what we are doing exactly and then while the leader is explaining something and because of that, it has to be re-explained to her. And this is just a very few examples. The thing is it is magnified about ten times because we're in class five days a week for 4.5 hours a day and she does these things at least three times in one class period. My favourite was when she said that visuals are overrated in the class.

Ugh.

Anyways, my plans have changed drastically. The police took way too long (1.5 months) getting my police check back to me that my docs got in two days too late to get a contract to go to Korea. I am now on a subbing list at a private school and am waiting to hear back from another school I had an interview for on Friday. I'll post more on that later as I have ten minutes to get out the door to get to class ...

spec ed, korea, school, ottawa u, job, jobs, stupid people, teaching
