Im going to do a series of posts about design, mainly for my own records..
These will be based on the furniture I hope to pick up a part of before
getting a mortgage (in 2 years)
Ive been really interested in picking up a set of real, licenced Eero Saarnineen Tulip Dining chairs, to go a long with a Tulip Table.. But as I thought about it..
1. They are very expensive ($1350 a piece)
2. They are retro space aged modern (which is cool, but kinda not so universal)
3. They seem overplayed and the amount of fakes out there means any dork with a
couple hundred bucks can have a living room that will look like mine..
So, Ive decided on going with Hans Wegner CH24 "Wishbone" chairs..
They are bent wood, with cord seats..
Ones in black stain like above cost about $850-$1000 a piece before tax.
There is currently a 4 piece set (which is what im looking for) in White Stain
on CL for $1770.. around $3000 with tax LESS than retail.. The guy has had them
listed for over a month, so Im guessing its a hard sell.. Just too bad they weren't
in Black or id have to pick them up now..
Last weekend I went to a modern design store in TO called Kiosk, and they had the chairs
in the colour I wanted and I was able to see them/try them out in person.. And honestly
REAL designer furniture is so much better in both design, quality AND comfort..
