There are two parts of the Fall. The first is the part where all the leaves change on crisp days with blue skies. The second, when most of the leaves have fallen and the sky is grey but the air is dry. The second part, it seems, is the Fall telling you it's serious. Fall isn't that long. Winter and Summer are unbearable. Spring has always brought something on. Fall this year, though I haven't missed it, convinced me that this past summer is dead; and so is an entire era of my life. I'm so sorry.
