JEAN SIMMONS (1929-2010)
British actress Jean Simmons, who portrayed Clarissa Main in both "NORTH AND SOUTH" and "NORTH AND SOUTH: BOOK II", has passed away from lung cancer at her home in Santa Monica, California. She was nine days away from her 81st birthday.
Simmons had also appeared in movies such as "GUYS AND DOLLS", "SPARTACUS", "ELMER GANTRY" and "THE BIG COUNTRY". She also appeared in another well-known television miniseries - namely 1983's "THE THORN BIRDS".
