Today I started training to Bartend at the Steakhouse that is now an Irish Pub. It was a lot of fun and hours go by a hell of a lot quicker than when you're waiting tables. I have more to say about it but so far no complaints, I'm probably back there on wednesday.
I'm extremely sore from playing soccer yesterday, which has only helped to remind me that I need to REALLY run more, not jog, but actually run. Also, this fat dude kneed me right in my right inner thigh, juuuuust above my knee while playing and it HURTS. I can't bend my leg all the way and it's kind of scary because it's in the same place where my blood clot was. If the swelling and the pain don't subside I'm going to have to go to the hospital to make sure everything is okay. Feels/looks like it's just a bruise though.
Locals: When I actually start bartending you all have to come through to get hooked up/fucked up.
EDIT: A girl that was supposed to be starting didn't show up twice for her shifts so she's fired. I got called in today to fill in for her, since all the other bartenders couldn't make it. So basically I had my first bartending shift after only one day of "training" I even closed by myself since it wasn't too busy. I learned a whole bunch of drinks/shots pretty much because I had to and I made some new friends that promised they'd be back. Another cool thing, I can wear black metal t-shirts to work! Well, I probably won't push this too hard but I wore a Mastodon t-shirt today (just a plain written logo) but I fully plan on busting out a Rotten Sound or something soon, if my boss doesn't say anything then I'll see where that can go. I also plugged in my ipod and got a compliment from this one girl (it's a pretty tame rock mix though, interpol, the strokes, white stripes, anniversary, the darkness, jet, spin doctors, modest mouse, the hives, etc) I played a block of interpol per her request and her group left me a nice tip. I made $140 after splitting with Jim and it's not bad at all since the night was slow. Coincidentally that's how much I made at CPK on saturday night (very busy) but I didn't have nearly as much fun doing it. The only part that felt like work tonight was the cleaning afterwards, everything in between just sort of feels like you're hanging out with friends and every now and then you make them a drink or hand them a beer. I like it so far. I think the hours will get to me but if the money stays consistent I'll be alright. I'm only going to be doing it twice, maybe three times a week so it won't be too bad.
