I have had no luck at all with my AIM, but then again I am rather computer illiterate. Anyway England is really pretty but very rainy and cold right now. The most interesting thing I've found is how different shopping and space are. You have to go shopping several times a week and everything is in smaller packages (including choclate chips which made me very sad) and everything is so expensive. They have at least four different types of sugar in every store which I found peculiar. The refrigerators are tiny and we're sharing with eight people. The people in my flat are very nice and friendly (well the ones who have introduced themselves). There are three American girls and five british guys. Charlotte is my neighbor and she also goes to St. Olaf. And Steph goes to a school in Wisconsin. Matt is the one we talk to the most and he goes kayaking a lot and hiking. Luke has also been very helpful in getting us poor americans used to things over here.
My classes cool so far. I'm taking a Maths (not a typo they really say Maths) class, Complex Analysis, two Medieval History Classes and Medieval and Reformation Christianity and a Physics class. The Religion class is interesting and everyone does Maths in pen (I was confused).
Lancaster is a pretty cool town with lots of neat little nooks and crannies and a Castle! (which is currently a prison). The lake district and its excitment is just north of here and we took a tour last saturday. We didn't really do any hiking, but it is just waiting for warmer weather.
I joined a few clubs. A hiking club (to hike with people), a theatre group (auditions on Saturday), a ballroom dance group (but it is expensive), a sky diving group (I'm not sure if I'm going to try because that is REALLY expensive), fencing (there much more serious than I'm used to) and a women's football team (they do have games, but you don't have to go to them). We'll see what I end up doing, but it all looks like a lot of fun.
Well I think I talked myself out now.
So ta!
