Oh that was a most splendid fanfic! Your characterizations were flawless and the idea was refreshing. I loved every moment of it. Your writing style is unique and lovely to read.

These were a few of my favorite lines:

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs. (Your descriptions made me smile!)

the sort of women that Norrington had done his utmost to remove from Port Royal's streets. (As did this one. :D)

internally damning himself for forgetting, in a brief moment of stupidity, the English language in its entirety. (He he. Such adorable writing! I loved this line a lot)

Governor in fine form, filibustering for all he was worth. (I like the reference to the Governor's personality and to the relationship that Norrington has with him. Nicely done!)

if the man she were to marry be able to converse with her in a coherent manner," (Ha ha. This amused me greatly. The Governor is a kind and amusing man.)

"You might advise potential suitors to practise before a mirror, in that case," said Norrington, relieved that his approach had not been rebuffed, and curious to know if he really was what the Governor sought in a son-in-law. (I love Norrington's reply. Perhaps he should listen to his own advice? He he. Maybe he will that afternoon. :D Also, I loved how you ended off with us wondering about the future while at the same time referring to the beginning where you established Norry's relationship. I love that he feels as if Swann is a father to him then wonders if maybe one day he really will be. Such a lovely tie in and a nice thoughtful idea.)

Loved this very much! Thank you for sharing with us! :D

Thank you very much for such a wonderful piece of feedback!

The Charles Spaniel thing is true - every year I see this Georgian music/dance troupe and the girls' hair is done in ringlets or buns and they look like floppy dog-ears, lol, so I had to put it in.

The forgetting of the English language is one I should credit Steven Moffat with - have you ever seen Coupling? JackDav is brilliant in it, and has on one or two occasions forgotten how to speak. Great fun. ;-)

I enjoy Governor Swann, he's a canny fellow with a good heart, and he seems to genuinely like Norrington, too. It's interesting to try and figure out their dynamic.

If you enjoyed this, feel free to take a look at sheebeen which is where I put all my fics now. The PotC ones are mostly slash, but if that squicks you, I do het in The Wedding Date fandom and Coupling fandom (both, naturally enough, starring the delightful Mr Davenport).

Ha ha. I do adore the Coupling. I miss having BBCAmerica as they used to show it. I've been trying my hardest to watch episodes online but haven't found much so I'm languishing for more. :( I don't remember hearing that particular turn of phrase used but I haven't seen much of the Coupling.

I think Gov. Swann is underappreciated really. He is a nice man and I do love his interaction with Norry.

I will def. look at your fics. I don't like slash but I can't believe you write Wedding Date stuff! I loved that movie (wish there had been more of the English people than the silly American leads actually. Ha ha) so I got really excited when I read you wrote fanfic for it. :D And coupling fanfic too! Awesome. I will def. check it out sometime soon.
