James sat on the floor of his cabin, leaning back against the bed.  He wore breeches with no shirt and bare feet, less than an inch left in the bottom of what had once been a full bottle of Pirate Wench’s rum.  He studied the label on the bottle closely, noticing that the red-haired buxom wench had multiplied into two.  Soon he would be seeing ( Read more... )

Oooh, still intriguing! I especially like the line: “The Dauntless is the power in these waters”, the people of Port Royal said. But really, James was the power in these waters.. So very true!

He's really not all that good at holding his drink, is he? Poor James ... I like his rather hungover musing about why women like pirates when he's done his best to offer a stable life and a good home. The odds really are stacked against him.

I definitely saw Buttercup from the Princess Bride in Elizabeth when she was pacing the decks of the Interceptor - "I cannot believe he didn't come." I liked Elizabeth in general - from her drunken escapades on RumRunner's Island, to her comparison of Jack, Will, and James.

Will ought to be REALLY nervous right now - between the murderous pirates and one rather pissed-off Commodore. Eagerly awaiting the next update!

The fact that he just can't hold his liquor is such a great little tidbit that makes the character more real and alive. It's kind of hilarious that a man who can do anything has a weakness about something so simple. I actually had not thought of the Princess Bride when I was writing this, but now that you mention it, I see the similarities.

The fact that there were no comments is entirely my own fault. I had it set that I had to unscreen the comments, and I have been working like a nut, and I can't unscreen them at work because if my boss caught me doing something unwork related, I would catch hell. I'll set it so others can view them right away next time.
