My guess is that the aliens are a patsy that the REAL big bad of the season set up to distract the good guys. But yeah, given how much other new stuff is getting thrown at us, it's difficult to be willing to give the show that time to get things going. And the girls DEFINITELY need better development, but they're focusing so much on the plot that it's difficult. And the plot could use some improvement, too. And Dick/Zatanna makeouts, but I've apparently already reached the point of writing fic when canon fails to provide, so.
NO PANTS, however, bought them a few more episodes worth of good will to get things moving.
Hmm, ok, Artemis. I had a big piece of head!canon about her and her father, but that was REALLY long and thinky, so have something a little more manageable: Artemis didn't want to go away to college, she wanted to stay in Gotham. She'd finally built some semblance of family, between the team and having her mom out of jail, and didn't know how her mom would get along without her. She and Paula had a HUGE fight about it when she found out Artemis wasn't applying to schools outside the city, GOOD schools, schools she would DEFINITELY get into, and many words and tears later, Artemis was proud to send off her app to the west coast with her mom's blessing, knowing that her family would STILL be here when she returned. IDK, the more I think about it, the more important I think family is to Artemis.
...And this is not much shorter than the other thing I had. Oops?
