Right.
So it's been almost a year since my last post. I guess facebook has become my outlet nowadays. But really, I do like this blog, so I'll make a new post!
I just passed the half-way mark on my year in Korea. I can't believe it's been 6 months already. But I feel like my life here has just begun.
The new teachers are amazing. As much as I love Liz and Kirsten, we we're from different worlds and I don't think we ever really connected (but I think we made swell friends). However, the new kids, Avery, Gina and Graham are really cool and we're all hitting it off. It's only been 2 weeks, but I feel like I've know them for years. It sounds corny...But it's really comforting. We already have drama and intrigues, but in a good way. In short: LOTS of fun.
Being in Korea is great too. I'm getting to know a lot about the culture, even be a part of it. This weekend is Chusok, the Korean Thanksgiving-ish-thing. Everyone travels out to the homes of their parent/grandparent/whoever is the oldest of the family, gives them gifts, makes a formal bow to them, and all together, they honour their ancestors. It's a pretty cool thing. And while I have no Korean ancestors to honour, I am getting to take part in one Chusok tradtion: the hanbok. The hanbok is a traditional Korean formal gown, usually work for Chusok, weddings, anniversaries, and other VIP events. And now I have one. I just got it today. Man, is it EVER nice! And I'm going to wear it to school tomorrow!
Also, in a few weeks, I'm heading out to Andong for a traditional mask/dance festival. It's gonna be SO much fun! :D
While pickin's are slim here when it comes to men, I'm really quite happy living here. I can't wait to move on, though. I guess I'm just a wanderer at heart.
Till next year! :P
