"Why is that camera off? You don't know what you're doing here. Maybe *I* know what I'm doing here! These people are risking their lives for us. I wanna *see* what they're going through even if they don't want us to. And I want other people to see it! What do you think they're doing out there? Protecting and defending secrecy? That's a world of-of Mao, the world of Stalin, a world of-of secret police, secret trials, secret-secret deaths. You force the press into the cold and all you will get is lies and innuendo. And *nothing*, nothing is worse for a free society than a press that is-that is in-in service to the-to the military and the politicians. Nothing! You turn that camera off when I tell you to turn it off! You think I give a damn what you think about me? You serve the people? So do I! "
Emmett Bregman, Heroes Part II, SG1
This is one my favorite quotes in all of well, anything...
Heroes Part I/II are two of the best SG1 episodes in their 10 year run. It's slightly unusual, having like 4-5 main plotlines all interwoven, and the "reveal" is one of the top 10 spoilers of the show, so I won't say anything about that. There also a few reversals, so the screenplay is a wonder to behold in its structure, really.
However, let me warn you-major character death is involved.
Adam Baldwin costars in a one off but much beloved character, Colonel Dixon. Another character that becomes a regular and then a star in the last season of SGA, Mr. Woolsey, played by Robert Picardo is also introduced.
Emmett Bregman is a journalist. He is assigned to make a documentary of SGC and what it does, who the people of the SGC is etc. One of the plotlines is his making of a documentary, one is of a discovery on another planet, another is an investigation as to how SGC spends its money...and there are a few subplots.
Emmett is played by Saul Rubinek...look at his imdb and just notice the science fiction wonderfulness he's been in :
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0007210/?ref_=tt_cl_t6 Especially of course, Warehouse 13 which I recommend with the rating of 5 very good, bright tasting cups of coffee.
