Discovery of the day--great yellow: #ffed85 very antiquey, old timey feeling, slightly vintage-retro as well.
My interpretation of :
Antique: 1840's-1920 ...art nouveau, "some" art deco, Victorian, Edwardian, WWI, before 1920, clothes from that era are usually costume pieces, museum worthy, collectibles, usually not worn except by actresses, and steampunk folk.
(I do not mean clothes that are reproductions, I mean clothes actually from before 1920 era...)
Vintage: 1920-1946... post WWI, WWII, art deco, some art nouveau, dresses clothes etc from that era are still in decent to good condition, somethings look more "vintage" from 1910-1920, it's sort of subjective.
Retro: 1940's-1980 ; "Modern" 1960's look, "The Gernsbach Continuum, late period", 1970's punk etc.--see the short story by William Gibson, things from just before I was born, to "around my early 20's", clothes can be in good to excellent condition, unless designers really not that collectable or museum pieces. Mostly, anyway!
I don't know what to class things after 1981...probably retro til 1999? I mean, wouldn't that mean that SG1 and Buffy are retro now?!
I do not know what to classify items pre-1837 ...by their "specific period".
In example, you might call a colour scheme "antique" that was inspired by Victorian English interiors, however, probably if you took a colour scheme from one of Marie Antoinette's palatial rooms, "Rococo" and "French 18th century" would be a more accurate keyword usage.
