Jay Lake's Mainspring -- 19th century New England, still ruled by the British Empire, alternative history, fantasy, steampunkery, also, recognition of class differences in a society.
and since I am in the mood for some political non-fiction, also : Wherever There's A Fight by Elaine Elinson and Stan Yogi...a history of California fighting for progress.
Mental weather: a little foggy, cloudy, and generally having a very lazy weekend.
Emotional weather: It's cold outside, rainy, and we have had some gorgeous days lately...mppph.
Physical weather: A bit lethargic. Hard to get out of bed today. Bleh.
Exterior weather: Cold, slightly windy, chilly, rainy, and yet, I am determined to get an enchilada or two and space out at my favorite little place. Even if it is under threat of rainy rain.
Best thing I heard about today? Gongressperson Giffords! She was there at her husband's launch, she was awake, alive, aware, speaking. This makes the clouds and rain a mere passing item, because she is proof of the amazing resilience of the human animal.
My poetry project: Well! I am on Poem 49. Of course, it was Muriel Rukeyser. Everybody should read her.
Layout news: I am incorporating my Always Returning with the Jet Li color scheme. However, I am restless and wish more layout stylesheets had a nice flexible bottom bar like this. I am also beginning to experiment on making my own layout. Yikes!
