The word of God has a well known liberal bias

…But "labor" is now a bad word, when it accurately describes what Jesus did as a carpenter? And what substitute do they have for "fellow worker"? "Dissociated, independent individual who happens to participate in the free market near me and contemporaneously" is all I could come up with for a conservative translation of "fellow worker."

The Bilerico site is a good place to get GLBTQ news, and I am probably going to expand my reading of it to more often than “occasionally” and try to find at least 1, maybe 2 more blogs that are GLBTQ-focused.

The Hathor Legacy is a great place for a feminist/womanist perspective on media, especially genre media.

I just finished the last story and I’m still processing how melancholy and yet how hopeful this collection is. The evocative stories contained here aren’t about resolution or answers.

Women&hollywood is the top source for women’s involvement in Hollywood, for feminism & womanism in the cinema, at least, in blogging format…I’ve been a loyal reader of this almost as long as I have been of shakesville. It’s basic and belongs on everybody’s blogroll that is interested in movies, women, the “biz” and what goes on. She also covers theatre, TV , and books amongst other things.

Mrs O’s Blog ... this is an excellent example of a narrow focus blog: it’s all about what Mrs. Obama wears. And it’s done well. Really well. I love the way the First Lady dresses- sometimes very chic, sometimes very stately, sometimes fun, sometimes soccer mommish (let her wear shorts, people!), sometimes like…well..the Flotus! I also am unabashedly thinking she is on the level of Eleanor Roosevelt and Jackie Kennedy. Except there was a bit too much Camelot in Mrs. Kennedy-a little cool and reserved, some Brahminesque ambience. She was elegant, but a bit untouchable. Eleanor wasn’t much a fashion person-but she was very active, and worthy of respect. So she is sort of a combination thereof…she’s very intellectual, very professional and dedicated, and active but seems to absolutely love her clothes as well. Plus definitely her own addition to the progressing of women’s images in the United States.

And…Costume Manifesto’s Costume History page which is an excellent starting off resource for costume history. Caveat: some of these links are very old and broken, defunct or squatter’s sites. “FYI”.

A little sneak preview of what you can find in Mrs. O's Blog:

Michelle, going somewhere in a hurry in an adorable top...that handsome man next to her is aka her husband, President Obama of the U.S.A.
