Dean's Apartment - Monday Afternoon

He left her a note and headed down to Dean's apartment, picking the lock and entering it. He had no idea what he should do with Dean's things. Or in general.

Idly, it occurred to him that he should call John. But he couldn't handle that just now.

After the news, after Murdock's visit that is still being played, Ana Lucia came to the Carriage House and knocked sharply on Dean's door. She didn't expect anyone to answer and would wait a minute before she opened the door and let herself in.

Sam opened the door and blinked at the woman. "Can I help you?"

"I'm Deputy Cortez," she introduced. "Are you Sam?"

"Yeah, I am," Sam said. "I guess you heard?"

"I did, yes. I'm deeply sorry for your loss."

"Thanks," Sam said awkwardly. "Is there, uh... something I can do for you?"

"Actually, I need to check his place out." She realized this might not be a good time, but she was a cop and she didn't put her job on hold for those that grieved. "I need to know what happened. To you. And to your brother."

"There's nothing here that's going to help you," he said, shifting slightly so his large frame blocked the doorway. "And what happened to us isn't something the police can do anything about."

Yeah, he was a big damn guy. She didn't allow the intimidation to affect her. "People are asking questions, Sam. Reports have to be made. I need to know what happened to the sheriff."

Sam glared at her. "I don't remember what happened there. I woke up somewhere strange. Dean and Meg came and found me."

"And then what happened?" she asked, ignoring the glare.

"It doesn't matter," Sam said. "Dean is dead. And there is nothing you can do about it."

She sighed. "Did you see him die, Sam?" This whole demon shit was starting to grate on her. She believed, but she was having doubts. Strong doubts.
