Perkin's Postulate
Happy Holidays!
I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Mine was filled with frustration and disbelief that people are calling up the contact centre in droves just because of some last minute changes or checking out when your flight is suppose to be going the next day. >_>
Anyway, had an eventful Boxing Day. I noted that Playtech had a 15% off sale for computer parts, and wanted to buy a few new parts for a computer I'm building. I saw that PBTech also had a sale but a quick drive down and checking out the prices, I knew I shouldn't have expected much. So headed down to Playtech and bought a new Intel i5 760 Core, an Intel X25 80GB SSD, Coolmaster GX 650W PSU, and Windows 7 Home 64bit. All that cost me around $840. Compared to the "sale" PBTech had for the components, I would have paid more. Anyway will be installing the parts today.
Then after that, I was in the kitchen for a good 5 hours preparing and cooking the meats that were assigned to me. The lamb was essentially made to the recipe that Jamie Oliver cooked up on his travels to Marrakech, and it worked out very well. The meat wasn't falling off the bone as he made it, but that's most likely me cooking it in less time. It was still tender which is all that matters with lamb. The chicken saw that it was being stuffed, with my recipe of dates, cashew, and a bit of apricots. I was highly proud of the stuffing, that I forgot to salt up the chicken before it hit the spit. Ah well, the chicken came out great thanks to the juices from the stuffing. My disappointment was the breast was dry. I swear I buttered up that bit the most. Lastly the ham's glaze was a mix combination. Made up of fresh orange juice, whiskey, and honey, it was a nice glaze but I should have taken the time to reduce it a lot more than adding more honey. All in all though, it was a fun experience and I can't complain about the food.
