Story Sale to Black Gate!

Aug 17, 2009 04:06

This is a rare writerly post. These days (as in, the last three years) it's all either the publishing business stuff, or real life woes.

But this weekend -- just as I've been in a really rock-bottom-low place in other aspects of my life -- I've received various good news on the writing front. First of all, you all know how it's been nearly impossible for me to find/snatch/carve out those precious minutes to write in-between all the other stuff I have to do. Yeah, I'm doing the Mansfield Park and Mummies, but that's being written in the spare moments between other work.

Well, anyway, on Friday I got an invite to an essay anthology, on a really fabulous topic that's right up my alley, and more on that later.

But the best news came on Sunday night.

Black Gate magazine publisher and editor John O'Neill emailed me to say he is buying "Niola's Last Stand," which is a brand new, previously unpublished Compass Rose milieu story (one day eventually it will become a chapter of the second book).

I am impossibly thrilled to finally sell to Black Gate; this is a happy milestone for me. :-)

This just about makes my week! It's been so long since I've written, submitted, or sold my own writing! I guess I'm still real. *grin*
