Well, it looks like Jeff did mean well, but he seems to forget that you posted your request in YOUR space, for people to respond to or not, as they saw fit. You didn't post it in others' blogs, or on the SFWA site, or etc.

As far as blatant self-promo goes, my flist has a great deal of "READ MY BOOKS!" every single day, and review links, etc. Seems the name of the game.

My own feeling is that promotion with content works better than just "Read this brilliant book!" because without a context, or content, who's to say one should trust that person's taste?

Oh sure, I have no prob with Jeff at all, just think it was a waste of energy (his and mine and everyone's). I pretty much knew what I was doing. *grin*

Which is why I added you to my reading list and happily wait for new posts and enjoy commenting. I would also like to complement you on the fact that you try to answer each comment in some way, whether on Athanerel or your blog.

And I bet it's also why you get a lot of comments for your posts as such.
