I've Been SHAMED for being a Self-Promotional Slut. :-)

Yes, folks, you knew it was coming.

I've been soundly chastised and put in my place for daring to be a self-promotional slut.

Read the thread on SFF Net, starting here.

slut, self promotion

And I can hear your rich and hearty laughter from here. I can't see if you're pointing, but I'm going to make assumptions.

Hey, in a genre where blatant self-promotion is somehow a job requirement (I was once trapped in a room with Bruce Sterling at a convention a decade ago, and he proceeded to honk "It's on the Viridian List! Have I mentioned the Viridian List?" some 50 times in an hour), you're practically a mute hermit.

And yet I always get called on it because I don't ever waste time in hypocritical pussyfooting. :-)

The term is "asskissing". No pussyfooting around, remember?

I think you might be off on another somewhat parallel but separate tangent here.

Maybe so. To change the subject further, do you have a preferred Snail Mail address? I have freebies for you.

Many thanks in advance, but please, please don't send me anything, no matter how awesome. I honestly have no time to read or review, and yeah, I know it sucks.

I still owe Jim C. Hines a review of his fun STEPSISTER SCHEME, which I had to set aside back in January and still haven't finished reading... so, no freebies. :-)

Vera,

I had pretty much decided to stay out of this, because I don't think anything I have to contribute would be helpful to you.

However, to be absolutely clear, you owe me nothing.

I worked with my publicist to get you and other bloggers I know copies of the book in the hopes that some of them might enjoy and review it.

Zero obligation. If you post a review, great! If not, that's okay too. I'd say half the bloggers who received ARCs never reviewed them. ::Shrug:: That's how the game works, and it's expected.

Thanks for the understanding, Jim, but you know, it's not how I do it. If I promise something to someone, I do it, one way or another, rain or shine. Had a terrible insane time of it these several past months, but at some point I should be able to breathe again, at which point, I will finish the book and gladly do the review.

Cuz that's how I roll. :-)

Not a problem. I wasn't going to send review copies of anything: I just thought you might like a button.

No assfooting, either.

Given that "pussyfooting" is named in honour of a post-World War I evangelist, I'd say calling it hypocritcal was a tautology.
