Gladys wasn't at the Post Office today. Today she was delivering invitations. Mr Lipwig had said, "Deliver one to every adult on the island."
Gladys, being a golem, took this literally, as she took everything.
Every adult on the island was to receive an invitation, and so every adult would, if she had to tromp around the island forever.
The invitation reads:
Emma and Ares invite you to a party to welcome the new teachers.
This Friday afternoon, Free drinks and food, 15 Griffin Way.
