Let me start with yesterday since I was not able to update last night (Thursday 12th of July
So yesterday I was so excited because dad was coming in to Oslo! He was scheduled to land in Oslo airport at 11:20 am then he was to take the Express train from the airport to Oslo Central where I would be there waiting for him (Next to burger king)
But of course, before this, I had class, which consisted of half of our presentations (the other half the next day) No one except Sangeeta knew which groups would go which days, so obviously everyone had to be ready. Our group did not go today, but I used this presentation time to learn names better (some I just know by country) and there were a few people I am pretty sure I have never seen in class until now.
So I took at least 2 pictures of each group, getting every group member in the picture.
At the end of the class, I rushed to get to Oslo S (aka Central Station) out of pure excitement, but to my growing frustration it started to rain, very very hard. I arrived at the Central station at about 1:-00 pm and sat by the Burger King .At this time, I had waited for about an hour (actively waited) and decided to grab a sandwich at the Narvaseen and later a pop. After a while (2 hours or so) I realy began to worry. Not so much that something was horribly wrong ( I am too much of a realist for that) but that my directions were inadiquate or that something was horribly delayed and he wouldn't arrive until tomorrow. Of course, there is no way of letter each other know where we were because of the lack of cell phone reception, so I just had to convince myself that it was a small delay, and he would arrive eventually. I was able to figure out what times the trains for the airport would arrive, so I would walk around the area I had thought was the only gate for the airport train came from, so that I would see him as he arrived. So, as I was going on my fourth hour of waiting, I thought I was once again dissapointed and would have to wait BUT in the other direction (other side of the lobby) I heard the family whistle. Hoping that I was not growing delirious or that it was just wishfull thinking, I whisteled back. I heard it again and was so excited, my return whistle was rather in a different key! Dad would later tell me he thought someone was just making fun of him. We finally found each other, and as we did, the rather dull and grey weather conditions turned glorious with the sun shining through the Station windows.
Much to my surprise, Dad was up to getting things accomplished. When I arrived here, I just wanted to sleep. So we went and exchanged his money and tried to buy his weekly pass, but everything was closed by then. So just lugged up the hill with dad's suitcase and got situated and headed over to Pepe's Pizza where we each had our own pizza and then chatted until the pizza was gone, then we ordered drinks and made plans for our trip We then ended our day as I have for the last 3 weeks by going back to BSN and crashed.
Today (the 13th of July) was the official last day of classes. We had our presentation, and it went fine (of course we had some computer issues, but thats me for ya) While I was in class, Dad went to Storo and did some shopping of his own as well as caught up on sleep and I guess did some writing. We met up after class and headed to National Theatre to get his weekly pass. We then got a sandwich and pop and sat and enjoyed the sun shine (YES SUN! I've been telling dad that he should have arrived sooner, cause he seemed to have brought the nice weather with him)
We then had some time before my "farewell get-together" at Kokamoks across the river, so Dad and I stopped at Blindern and took pictures of each other and walked around campus, swapping stories. We headed back in time for a quick tour/walk around BI, then I went to the gathering, which was basically one big picture-taking fest. It was loads of fun, and I got several good pictures (with me in them too!) and got to say goodbye before meeting up with dad for dinner/exploring . We headed first to Krinjsa, where he stayed before Blindern 27 years ago.. Then explored the lake nearby where he had swam before. We gave up trying to find a restaurant around that area, and started to look around the National Theatre area. On our jant, we saw a larger touristy shop and decided to duck in and look around. We bought several gifts, but will be back probably tomorrow for more shopping. We finally realized we would not be sucessfull in finding a cheap/affordable restaurant whats-so-ever and broke down and ate a a place called Steakers. Dad had buffalo wings and a side salad, and I splurgged (I was paying) and got mussles with a certain cream sauce. It was delicious and new and I was very happy.
Rather tired, we both agreed it would just make sense to go back to the room. We did some laundry and wrote in our respective journals and talked about future plans for the week. Right now Dad is getting his stuff put away so we can "make" my make-shift bed on the floor
