I live atop a mountain at a crossroads, in a manor that sits atop a river that flows to great lakes, my windows face sunrise and sunset. The wild wood surrounds my manor, around which has been built a small settlement which is sparsely populated, and all enterprises in this settlement surround my home.
Now tell me that doesn't sound magical to you? But its true. Every word of it. The trick is in how we choose to see where we are, and through learning to breathe color into things, how we can change the world around us. For me, I am indeed the old man atop the mountain to whom people come to advice, who lives a life of quiet wonder, in a place that while to some may appear a modest home, in broader view, is astounding. The mundane would have me say i live on the third floor above a restaurant and other apartments in a small college town with a river behind me, and located at the main intersection of the roads in town. I much prefer my way of seeing things, seems to make more sense. I would challenge you to do the same for yourself in your situations, find the edges of your world, and peek at your life from the other side. You may find you, and your world, are much more wonderful than you had previously imagined.
