He's become obsessed with the idea of fixing a curse from his homeworld which makes twins a bad omen. It's not a real curse, I don't think, but Fay is convinced it is. He's also convinced, or his daimon is, that the way to fix it is by making twins "become one". Translation, one of them dies. Fay's still fighting it off pretty well though.]
