Sigh, I'm getting sick of everyone in sports media wanting to fellate Sidney Crosby all at once. He's skilled, I'll give him that, but everyone's now claiming he's better than Gretzky -- give me a fucking break.
Point 1 - youngest player to get to 200 points in the NHL
Sure, he may be the youngest, but Gretzky, Lemieux, and even Paul Statsny did it in fewer games. He's only the youngest because of his birthday, and the difference is something like Gretzky was two months older when he broke into the league, and what's more, he played a season in the WHA before that! Two months is like when a little kid says "I'm 7 and 4 months!", you're 7, get over it.
"It would also be presumptuous to make the Penguins the favorite in the East."
Are you kidding me? They go on a hot streak since January, and now they're the cup favourite in the East? Crosby, Fleury, Malkin, none of these guys have any playoff experience. They're a good team, but that says nothing about Buffalo -- my favourite because they have 4 first lines and Ryan Miller, New Jersey, Ottawa, or the other four teams who are seriously underrated. Montreal especially was only 8 points back of Buffalo early in the season, and were one of the hottest teams going into Christmas, who's to say they can't repeat that?
Crosby's a pretty good player, but really now, let's look at their 19-year-old Seasons
Crosby: 79 GP, 37 G, 85 A, 122 PTS (on pace with 3 games to go)
Gretzky: 79 GP, 51 G, 86 A, 137 PTS
15 points seems like nothing, but it's more than a 10% difference in the points. Everyone keeps saying "Crosby's the youngest! Not even Gretzky could do that", but like I said... it's his fucking BIRTHDAY
