Since everything changes on a daily basis right now, I thought that I'd let you folks know what has been going on.
So, we were stealing internet from our downstairs neighbor, until he or she decided to password protect their network, damn! So, last Monday, I had a job. I was so excited that the temp agency had a job for me that I spent the last of my savings on shoes and two pairs of dress pants that would help me adjust to an office environment. The temp agency called me on the previous Friday evening and said "Hello! I have this job for you since the Insurance Company didn't come through. Here, you'll be stuffing envelopes for the Oregon Education Association for a giant mail out that is happening next week." I said "Sure, sounds great!" and made plans for being there the whole week.
Well, I showed up to the place and was told "Oh, you didn't need to come in business casual clothes, because we need you to move some boxes around for us. Sorry!" Not those words exactly, but something fairly similar. So, I spent most of Monday unloading eight pallets of boxes of calenders that had to be delivered to certain numbers throughout the bottom floor of the building. Not to mention the fact that the place was in Tigard, not Portland like I asked for. But since it is a crazy suburb ten to twenty miles away, it wasn't that big of a deal for me. Monday, I came home sore, because I don't bother with exercising much, as obvious from my belly. Tuesday was much the same, though no unloading pallets, though that was supposed to be our last day, which I didn't know unfortunately. So, we all worked very hard on Tuesday and managed to fill out all of the assigned envelopes. I was happy that the job was over and looked forward to actually doing office work, which is what I signed up for.
I get a call on Wednesday from the same staffing lady that signed me up for the job on Monday and Tuesday and it turns out that the OEA wanted me back to work, though she didn't know what the job was about. So, remembering how I came in office clothes, only to be sorely disappointed, so I came in jeans and a t-shirt. Sure enough! With a co-worker, we had to unload about twelve pallets of random boxes. Now, its not that I detest physical labor, it is merely that...I'm very lazy, and moving boxes all day is not my idea of fun.
While I was doing the box-moving routine, Alison picked up a temp job at Nordstrom, packing boxes for shipping for more money than I made moving boxes, go figure. So, tomorrow, I have a job interview with Apple One in Downtown to see if they can find me a better job. So, what is the point of all of this? Not really sure, hrm.
Update -
So, I had my interview with Appleone this morning, and they didn't have anything for me off the bat. I'm researching a job with Yahoo! right now that would be fun if it weren't in Hillsboro, which is about an hour bus-ride away, sheesh. But I'll be working with Alison at Nordstrom's this week, though at a different time. Should be fun, and it pays almost 12 an hour.
Craziness.
