Yesterday afternoon the insurance adjuster came. He took a look and, as predicted, could not evaluate the damage on his own. Duh, it's under the floor and inside the walls, you can't SEE the damage, that's why it's so frustrating.
He is going to assign us a recommended contractor (which is good, it's one less thing for me to do) to come and evaluate the extent of the damage. He will get in touch with me next week to make an appointment, come check it out, then there will be a discussion as to whether it is worthwhile to go through the insurance company or not, and THEN we can start the work. UGH! So someday this will get cleaned up
In the mean time, having the entire contents of my closet and much of the contents of my bedroom messily piled up in other areas of the house, I'm taking this opportunity of crap. I have taken bags of clothes and other stuff to goodwill, and every day I'm adding more and more stuff to the pile to get rid of. So, I guess this could be the bright side.
In other news - I decided to make jam tonight. I bought a mad ton of fruit, weighed and divided in to recipes, and made about half of it. Tomorrow will be the other half. Will it turn out?? I sure hope so! For now, it's the best part of canning - the *pop* the jars make as they cool and seal.
