Rumors
And we now have desks... but there are fucking wires going everywhere. Currently there are 8 cubes (two more than there used to be) and I guess we are considering putting one more on the west side of the room, as there will barely be enough room for that and the door to open, and the other bare corner gets a corner/manager/whip-cracker desk. Yeah. It looks like a big huge call center in here. Well ok, huge for this place.
There's another rumor going around too, about that other rumor going around that we're getting new computers (supposedly these nice drool-worthy p4's). The new rumor is that the other rumor is true. Let's hope one of our hourly rumors (well dreams anyway) comes true. Like that one about the future triple redundancy backbone. I just want a backbone. That would be nice.
I think I've decided I want to set up multiple computers around our house (laptops, whatever) and network it on wireless. I knew what these little laptops could do before, but dammit they're fun. I could go sit outside and smoke a cigarette while I check up on the ufie comic of the day, man. Is that cool, or what?
I still think we should've left this room bare of cubes, and brought in banana chairs, bean bags, and such. How cool would our tech support room be then, huh? We'd each have our own little wireless laptop, and the phones could be cordless headsets that we would answer with voice recognition, dammit!
The only thing is we'd have to line the walls with some kind of sound absorbing cloth, so it wouldn't echo so bad. Now that is some seriously laid back tech support!
