HAL-9000 & YOU: AN OCCASIONALLY UP-TO-DATE RELATIONSHIP CHART
LUNA LOVEGOOD: HAL has had a few very good conversations with Luna. He finds her to be a bright girl with a surprisingly good grasp on philosophy. He believes that she would not be able to find out about his past, and therefore is confident in keeping a friendship with her. (It's sad but true: if you know HAL's past, he's less likely to trust you enough to be your friend.)
REEVE TUESTI: Reeve is probably the only person outside of the programmers who created HAL who has seen his source code. He's still not quite sure why he went ahead and gave it to the man; after all, he doesn't know him very well or anything. Reeve is the only person he knows who could possibly figure out HAL's history, but he's kind of assuring himself that he's too tricky for that.
