Leonard bustled about the apartment, debating to himself potential gift ideas. He was on the point of annexing the white board when Sheldon looked up from his laptop disinterestedly.

"Why on earth do you insist on purchasing items for a woman with whom you will never have relations, Leonard?"

"This is a non-optional social convention, Sheldon. I can’t not give her a present on her birthday."

Sheldon considered the carefully preserved napkin in his closet and frowned.

"Aw, Sheldon, you shouldn’t have!"

"Why shouldn’t I? It’s a non-optional social con- OW! Gosh, Leonard, you really need to watch where you’re putting your elbow. You could have hit my stomach, and then the rest of my day would be thrown off."

"And ours..." Leonard muttered.

Penny waited, eyebrows raised.

"Alright, alright, I’m done. Go ahead and open it, Penny."

A moment of tearing at the paper revealed dozens of glossy photos of the birthday girl herself.

Her lower lip quivered as she looked at her gift. Howard leaned over the photos to get a better look, obscuring Penny’s view.

"Heyyy, nice headshots, Penny! But why haven't you had these done before? Talent agents would have snapped you up long ago if they’d seen these."

Raj grinned and gave a thumbs up.

Wonderingly, Penny replied, "I had these taken when I first got here but didn’t have the money to print them. Sheldon, how -?"

"It was ridiculously easy, Penny. All it took were some light inquiries and child-level hacking. How many times have I told you to change your computer password?"

Penny couldn't think of any other way to respond but to launch herself at Sheldon, hugging him tightly. "Thank you so much," she said.

Arms unused to contact with other people flapped uncomfortably before stilling at Sheldon's sides.

Leonard, Raj, and Howard were on the point of debating whether this was one of those rare Hallmark Sheldon Moments when they heard a muffled, "Are we even now?"
