Just got back from seeing it. So, I'm not the best film reviewer but here goes. Pretty good, lots of very funny stuff. The music was terrific. Kevin was wonderful, my favorite character. Lots of things for all ages, there were lots of kids in the audience. There were different groups of laughter as the kids loved some stuff, adults other things. Some things I think I was the only one laughing.
Some of the story elements didn't hang together as well as I would have liked, but it flowed quite well and was a very enjoyable time. I'll wait for SydPad to review it properly as she was able to articulate all the things I did not like about Monsters vs. Aliens much better than I could. I did not see it in 3D and am not sure if I would pay extra to do so. The ending was less than fulfilling. Only one part screamed out "video game" to me. The credits were brilliant.
The short was quite enjoyable. Again, the ending was the only thing that let it down. The PatF trailer was amazing to see up on he big screen with the sound booming. My only issue with it is that the cropping bothered me. I'm used to seeing every square inch of beauty, and it seemed as though too much was cropped when projected. The trailer left a buzz in the audience when it was done.
Tired now, too lazy to type more. I'd give it 3 stars on the 4-star scale.
