last week was verging on the border of insanity. i had 2 papers for school that needed to get written before i started cooking for my friend's japan fundraiser party on sunday. the first paper i finished wednesday night, when the paper was actually due yesterday (well, actually the instructor emailed all of us yesterday saying that she had extended the due date to NEXT tuesday - bullshit; i should totally get extra credit for being almost 2 weeks early, anyway...). the second paper, due sunday evening, i finished saturday afternoon. this left me with plenty of time to get all the food i was making bought, prepped and ready to go sunday afternoon. i wrote about what i cooked/made and provided the recipes
here. yay for pimping my food blog! i had a blast cooking and i loved that i was constantly moving all last week. it was a welcome change from the stagnation i had been feeling the week before.
the last couple of weeks has been interesting since the quarter started for marshall. he is taking a statistics class (needed as a prereq for one of the MBA programs he's applied to) and that's monday and wednesday evenings. he also signed up for an advanced writing class (a continuation from his writing class last quarter), which is thursday evenings. so, marshall is essentially gone monday, wednesday, and thursday. it's been interesting to say the least. however, i will say that our installation of a "date night" has really helped. i have something to look forward to at the end of the week, which is great, and so far i've really enjoyed our dates. neither of us are distracted by school or email or video games or anything; it's just us, going out, and having a good time together. we went to an awesome
yakitori place i found on yelp. we went with the chef's special and were totally impressed. the greatest thing was that we were the only white people there - a great sign for an "international" restaurant. if italians are eating at the italian restaurant, you know it's good; if chinese are eating at the chinese restaurant, you know it's good; etc. the food was great and we were stuffed by the end. it wasn't a cheap dinner, but it was delicious. totally worth it! i'm interested in trying their "sister" restaurant, which is reviewed as being more loud and rowdy. i think getting a group together for drinks and japanese skewers would be tons of fun.
unfortunately, marshall is away this weekend and leaves friday afternoon. it's our friend matt's bachelor party weekend and they're going to be in san diego. that means no date night this week. :( it also means i'm pretty much on my own for the rest of the week for dinner. i bought a few things to make and i have some leftovers. i'm all set, but it just sucks eating all by myself. i do have plans for saturday night; nicole and i are going to stay in for dinner and watch a movie.
oh yeah, i also should work on my group project for one of my classes. i feel so bad that i haven't done nearly as much as a couple of other people in our group. luckily, so has a couple of other people in the group, so i don't feel like i'm the ONLY one NOT doing work. anyway, i can get some stuff done this week and next. i don't have much to do for my other class right now, which is a nice break.
+_+_+_+
last night i went to bed imagining this sorta comedic monolog about palm sunday and how the passion story would be if it was treated like a sporting event. you have the two main commentators in the booth explaining the passion, starting with palm sunday through easter, then you have the plucky female correspondent on the field. she would comment on how people were laying palm fronds down so as not to kick up the dust as jesus entered the town. she could then talk about what jesus was wearing and then talk about the food planned for the last supper, etc. i could almost visualize the whole thing. but it was so distracting that i couldn't fall asleep.
so, marshall and i had sex; that cleared my head; and i was finally able to drift off.
