i love the rain
but i'm not enjoying the side effects.
i think i can positively blame my current grumpy and bitchy state on the rain. saturday night, all of a sudden, i felt this rage bubbling up inside of me. it wasn't really raining that night, but it was sprinkling. it was also gray for most of the day, so it counts. i woke up this morning feeling like crap. i wasn't tired, in fact i got up before 6:30, but made the unfortunate mistake of going BACK to bed. i should've just gotten up when i did. i think the extra sleep made everything worse. i didn't know what i wanted to wear, so i ended up changing my outfit 3 times. the close i ended up walking out of the house wearing makes me look like i rolled out of bed, threw on whatever was around and came into work. i love the fleece i'm wearing, but it's a cat hair magnet AND my lint roller doesn't seem to work on it. the hair stays and the lint roller picks up everything else. i should've kept on what i originally had, but i just wasn't feeling comfortable. that's exactly what i feel right now: utterly uncomfortable. ever have that feeling when you don't even feel comfortable in your own skin? yeah, that's me right now.
work is slow today. sure there is plenty i could be doing, but i don't feel like doing them. most of it is administrative stuff, which is boring and tedious. i also got here late, due to the rain and how people forget how to drive in it. it took me 20 minutes to a little over a mile. sure, i could've been like that asshole and used the emergency shoulder to bypass everyone else, but i'm not like that. i'm not an asshole.
i have a project to work on for my programming for children class that's due by sunday. my weekend is already full-up, so i have to get it done by friday, so i can enjoy what we have planned. the project isn't that bad, really. it's supposed to be fun. i get to design my own children's area of a library, including a hand-drawn (or computer-drawn) lay-out, pictures of furniture i'd want. a paper describing what i have in mind accompanies the pictures and drawings. i have a few ideas, but getting them on paper will be tough.
i missed the oscars last night. i was happy with a few of the results, though. i would've liked to have seen the song from wall-e win for best song because it's a really cool song, but oh well. i'm very happy for sean penn and the screenwriter for milk - that was a great film. i haven't seen slumdog millionaire, but i'm curious about it. perhaps i'll stick it in the netflix queue. there were a number of movies i missed out on last year: rachel getting married, the reader, revolutionary road, doubt, just to name a few. i know some are still in the theaters, but i don't really have the time right now.
