despite the fact that i was feeling like absolute crap this weekend, i had a pretty good one!
i finally finished with my midterm early friday evening. marshall and i stayed in and at yummy pizza and watched another disc of boondocks. the rest of the night, i honed my drum skills with practically 3 hours of rock band 2. this game as become my new best friend. i also don't get as frustrated with it as guitar hero. i'm better at the drums and it's easier for me to keep the rhythm, than flourishing on the frets. so, i've found my comfort spot. plus, i'm happy with the songs so far. :)
saturday morning started with the usual breakfast. i woke up feeling absolutely crap-tastic. i finally gave up and wore a t-shirt and yoga pants for the majority of the day, due to the fact that i had severe cramps, it was ungodly sweltering and my sinuses and chest were still congested. i was NOT in a good mood. i was in a mood of complaining and overall uninterested with the day. after breakfast, we headed on a quest for essential oils for
celtcub's burgeoning hand-made soap venture. then we went on a search for halloween costume accoutrement. we are all planning on attending
spitemeat's party this friday and we've got to look out best. apparently, they've added a slice of competition, with a costume contest. i found a wig for my costume, but i need to see if i can have it trimmed by my hairstylist (she, at least, has suggested i come in, if i need help shaping a wig). it's not the nicest of wigs, but it'll do. otherwise, my costume is pretty much set. i need to figure out a way to fill in my ninja shoes. they ended up giving me shoes that were too big (marshall, of course, got shoes that were too small). they're toe-less, so i can't just wear an extra pair of socks. i think i might wrap socks around my ankles and see if that works. i could get another ace bandage and wrap both my ankles and see if that works, too. i'll have to experiment this week. we hung out and watched liam play a little bit of "little big planet". of course, we only got a taste, considering it was only a matter of time before their PS3 stopped working again. :(
after dinner, we all met back up again at our house and played rock band 2. since liam and paco's PS3 is on the fritz, paco hasn't had a chance to rock out since the game was released last weekend. we all had a great time playing with our band. later on in the evening, BFF sarah and mike came over to hang out. mike went straight for the rock band equipment, while sarah and i chatted with liam. she's super excited about his hand-made soaps. towards the end of the night, even though she said she was tired, sarah got on the mic and then the guitar and then the drums. the phrase of the night was: 'okay, guys, one more!'. :D
sunday was devoted to errands and cleaning house. we got rid of my old bike (i ended up having to donate it, since i couldn't get any buyers), along with an old flower barrel, which opened up the patio quite a bit. the flower barrel is going to my sister's, who's attempting to cover up their old garage with tall plants. :) we also dropped off some costume materials at my mom's for my sister for this friday. my mom showed us pictures of her recent trip to LA. she and her friend went to the getty museum and had a great time. then we went to staples and finally started our grocery shopping. earlier in the day, sarah called and asked if we were interested in coming over that night for dinner and pumpkin carving. of course we said yes and after all our shopping we headed over to their new place to have a relaxing and delicious dinner and fun pumpkin carving.
the line-up
from left: "for the horde!" (marshall), "little witches" (sarah), "arachnophobia" (sarah), "ghouls gone wild" (mike), and "good grief" (michelle)
check it out, ya'll!
all of us with our respective pumpkins. unfortunately, it looks like we're on a sinking ship, yet totally happy with our pumpkins and impending death...
that's better...
okay, we're a little more subdued, but at least we've straightened out. well, all except for sarah, who insists on having a manic moment for this picture. :)
in the dark
they look great! marshall's came out really good. i'm a little disappointed in mine, due mainly because i forgot how i wanted the eyes. they should've been draw/carved pointing up and to the left. oh well, i do like the added touch of an ear, which was sarah's idea. i also like the sketched-look. another good year for pumpkins! :D
we had a great time last night. everyone's pumpkins came out great and we just had a fun time chatting and hanging out. since we probably won't see them on halloween, this was a great consolation. :)
+_+_+
this week i have to finish up my book and write my book review for one of my classes. i have to catch up on a lecture and some reading for my other class. i'm on schedule, but i took some time out last week to focus on my midterm, so there's just a little catching up to do. nothing i can't handle at this point, though.
at some point this week, i'll be moving (along with my other coworkers) to the other building. next summer everyone is moving into our current building and we're selling off our old building next door. we would have to have moved before the move anyway, since they'll need to reconfigure the cubicles in this office to accommodate more people (i.e. making the cubes smaller). so, our managers have decided to put everyone in the other building before that happens. even so, it just means we'll be living out of boxes for the next 6 months. oh well... morale in my group is pretty darn low right now. we're all pretty unhappy with our jobs and our company. i've gotten to the point where i know my time here is finite and i'm only doing this until i've completed my masters. actually, if it's possible, maybe even before i finish, if i can get a job at a library while in a masters program and with no previous experience. *sigh*
