here's the weekend in bullets!
- friday: friday night, themarshal, plug_in_tomato and i met up for a quick dinner at mojo's (dinner evaluation, but damn fine burgers) and then we headed up to the city. we all had a GREAT time listening to the red elvises! they were so much fun and the venue was perfect for it (the red devil lounge). i had so much fun. they're such a fun band. marshall's been a fan of theirs since he was in high school, as they used to play on the 3rd-street promenade in santa monica. they're seriously so much fun to watch. the one thing that bothered me was this woman who was apparently friends of one of the band's groupies (this guy was like in his 50s). she was with a little group and they were all russian. anyway, after the intermission the three of us took advantage of the smoke break and found spots right in front of the stage (we were inches from the band). the groupie's cronies were standing near us and this woman was right in front of me. i'm having a blast, cheering and yelling and jumping, it was great. it's what you NORMALLY do at a concert, right? seriously, i wasn't the only one yelling. anyway, she kept giving me this look. i'd cheer and then she'd cover her ears and shoot me this look over her shoulder. you know, the kind of look you give someone AT A MOVIE THEATER when they're talking during the movie? yeah, hunny, we ain't in no moving theater, i'm screaming as much as i want. it was so stupid. there she is standing all still directly in front of a really active and out-there band. she really belonged at a table along the side. anyway, other than this woman, i had a blast. marshall was really enjoying himself, too. totally a great show.
- saturday (daytime): i got almost all my christmas shopping done saturday afternoon. i was so totally stoked. it didn't take long and i knew exactly where i wanted to go. it was great. marshall and i started the day a little late, but luckily, we had plenty of time to get some shopping done before celtcub's birthday party that night. we headed to santana row and finished up there in, like, no time. then headed to REI, where i got marshall's grandma's gift and marshall got my brother-in-law's gift. across the street, was target, wherein i got my new niece a christmas gift, her parent's their gift, MY gift for my BIL, and some gift wrapping supplies (target is THE BEST place for this, so cheap!). i got home and realized i practically finished all my shopping right then. it was a great feeling.
- saturday (nighttime): celtcub's birthday party was so much fun. he decided to do a murder mystery party and it went off wonderfully. everyone was in character and really enjoyed themselves. what was cool about it was we improvised most of it. when i did these when i was younger, we'd just read whatever was in our little booklets. this time, we read our material and then made our own questions and accusations. it was great. i really had a lot of fun and i think everyone else did, too. after the mystery was over, celtcub and norcalpaco showed off their PS3 by playing pain. i saw the video for this last week and thought "man, what a stupid ass game." it is, but it's also SUPER FUN! like, seriously fun. we played a few games and it just kept getting better and better.
- sunday: i agreed to watch the little wondertwins sunday afternoon while my sister and her husband went to a birthday party. it didn't really take all that long and the majority of the time i was there, the kids were napping. my sister came home earlier than i thought, so we all headed out for dinner. having dinner with 3-yr-olds is total chaos. they did actually eat their dinner, but there was some dispute in order to get ice cream (they had to eat all their broccoli before getting any). luckily, carus kinda forgot, even though ian joyfully dug into his vanilla ice cream. during dinner, marshall and i were propositioned for our baby-sitting services. my BIL has a company retreat in january to carmel. it's family-friendly, but there's one night with a dinner where kids are NOT invited. lame, considering they gladly include the employee's kids yet don't provide a nanny service for a non-kid-inclusive dinner. so, my sister and BIL said they'd cover a room for marshall and i if we watch the kids the night of the dinner. we'd get 2 nights stay free in carmel. i'm totally down. 2 nights stay for only 1 night of baby-sitting in carmel? yeah, i think i'll do it. ;)
- today: as of now, i'm only 1 major gift (and a few small gifts) away from being totally done with christmas shopping. i squeezed in some online shopping this morning and got my dad's gift and one of marshall's gifts. i feel so accomplished. i only have to make a trip to 2 stores in order to be completely done with all my shopping with 2 weeks to spare. i don't think i've ever been this complete this early with my shopping before. on a few items, i spent less than i thought i would, which is a nice feeling. i consider this holiday shopping season a success!
i've also gotten more into the christmas spirit. last week i was fed up with my scrooge-like attitude, so i created my christmas playlist on my ipod and subjected myself to an afternoon of christmas music. that coupled with the nice cold weather we've been having, i'm all ready for christmas. tonight marshall and i are going to pick up our christmas tree and decorate our house for the holiday season. safeway had some hot butter rum batter on sale, which i gladly picked up for our decorating party tonight. the last few years i was living with my parents, my mom would make hot butter rum to drink while we decorated. granted, this usually resulted in my mom and i sprawled out on the couch drunk while my dad was made to finish the decorating cuz my mom and i were too tired to do so, but it still made the night enjoyable. :P

p.s. i just have to get this off my chest. there's this guy at my work, no older than myself, who works in our technology group. i THINK he works on the online learning products we have. i remember a while back when i first started seeing him in the office, i thought he didn't work here, like he was the son of an employee who didn't have school that day or something. in any case, when i started seeing him regularly at the gym during lunch, i realized he must work here. what really annoys me, though, is that he spends a good chunk of his day pacing the rows between the clumps of cubicles talking on his cell phone. he also does this in the lobby. they're personal calls and he talks really loudly. i know, i don't have room to complain since i talk loudly on the phone, but still... i mean, maybe it's his voice that bothers me or something, but i find it really annoying and disruptive. maybe it's because he talks on his phone over in OUR area, rather than his. he works on the opposite side of the building, yet chooses to pace the area around this side of the building. he was doing it this morning, pacing around OUR printers chatting loudly on his cell phone. i think it's also how he TRIES to keep his voice down, but doesn't really try that HARD to do so? whatever, it bothers me. the end.
