not sure if i actually NEEDED any, but i did feel better buying a few things for myself yesterday.
when i got my ears pierced earlier this year, i started looking for earrings that were not your ordinary department-store type earrings. i wanted something funky and something that fit the 14g holes in my earlobes (department-store earrings are about a 20g). my mom bought me an awesome pair for my birthday this year. they're hand-crafted, long-dangly earrings, and she bought them at an art gallery. i love them, but i can't wear them all the time. they're a little on the fancy side. the whole reason i got my ears [sorta] re-pierced in the first place was when marshall and i were at p.f. chang's and one of the hostesses wore these really cool one-piece spirals. they just sorta sat in the holes. they were really cool. i googled "spiral earrings" and found
this place. they have a HUGE selection of all sorts of piercing jewelry. i started browsing their twists and spirals collection and also their ornate/hanging collection, too. i gathered from the glowing comments people posted about certain pieces that this was a good place. their paired pieces are a little expensive, mostly because most of their jewelry is hand-made, so it's taken me a while to have some extra money to splurge a little and buy a pair. yesterday i ordered these:
they hang to about mid-neck. a lot of their pictures show their jewelry without any sort of sense of scale, but i'm sure that these in a 14g are going to be really thin and delicate. apparently "little7" makes a number of items that body art forms has, but they're really popular. there are more of these types that i would've loved to get, but they were sold out in the smaller gauges. i might go back for some of their black-colored spirals. i think they'd be neat to have as a casual thing to wear. i'd like to have a little variety for my ears. :)
not only did i get new earrings, i also ordered some new t-shirts. i don't remember how i found out about
threadless, but they've got an awesome array of one-of-a-kind t-shirts. i think i might've heard about them through a question asked on
thequestionclub. just randomly, i thought i'd try and find them again yesterday, just to see what they've got. i couldn't remember the name, only a panda t-shirt that i remember liking. i googled "panda t-shirt" and found them right away. to my wonderful surprise, they're having a HUGE sale through labor day weekend. all their short-sleeve t-shirts are only $10! i was totally stoked. i set out and looked through their massive inventory (they have TONS of shirts) and i asked marshall to look to see if he could find any he was interested in. sadly, none of the t-shirts he liked were available in his size (a lot of their popular shirts, were sold out almost completely). i was lucky enough to find a few that i really liked in my size...
this is called "biblical disaster". it comes in light blue as a short-sleeve. i thought it was awesome.
this one is "caged". i decided to mix things up and got this as a long-sleeved shirt. it cost a little more, but i really like the design.
there are a lot of t-shirts that have toast as a subject. i would've gotten the one that shows a happy piece of toast spreading jam all over itself, but they ran out of my size. :( but, i do enjoy this one. the toaster is just so menacing looking!
lastly, i got this one. umm..do i really need to explain why i like this one? >.<
so yeah, threadless really has so many t-shirts. there are a ton that i really like, but i simply couldn't buy them all. maybe i'll wait for another sale and buy some more then. it just sucks when they have some really popular ones and they run out of them.
so far, i know that my earrings are being shipped today and i might get them by the end of the week - that'd be awesome. with the sale going on, threadless informed me that it might take a little longer to process my order. i might get them by the end of the week, but i think it'll be more realistic to expect them next week. i can't wait!! \^_^/
