New york city - food 1

Jun 26, 2005 02:22

June 17th (this is catch-up, i know) -
Arrive in new york city and sit down at the Carnegie Deli, amoung endless pictures of famous people who have eaten there, none of whom i recognize (thats a lie - bill clinton was there, as well as that guy from law and order. the wimpy looking one, not the one that shouts alot)

Order a sandwich called "Carnegie Haul" - no relish. ($20.95)
This sandwich is HUGE. I know what you picture it as, and its not nearly big enough.
This sandwich in bigger than my face. Even bigger than Evans' face. Impossible you say? Im serious. It's just that big.
Think 3 slices of rye bread, 6 inces of pastrami, 5 inches of corned beef, 5 inches of cow tongue. Multiply by two. As much as it hurts my pride to say, it took me 2 days to finish.

Also, on an unrelated note, has anyone noticed that our summer reading is very, very depressing?
Pygmalion - "depressingly obscure" - I have no idea what its about, but it took the entire barnes and noble staff half an hour to find it (as it happens, it was on the stand labeled "summer reading")
Lord of the Flies - nothing like reading about a bunch of kids who like killing each other.
1984 - that was the best 150 pages of a guy being crushed in every possible way I've ever read.
The Inferno - just in case there wasnt enough mourning, i get my own guided tour through hell.

Im done for now!
