This morning we had to meet at the Uffizi museum at 8:15 in the morning to stand in line. While standing in line I was able to do some unintentional bargaining which was fun because I wasn’t really awake and I was able to bring the price of a painting down from fifteen euros to three.
It ended up taking four hours to get into the museum. And since I was so tired from waiting in line I wasn’t really interested in seeing what was inside (and on top of the entire first half of the museum contained works done by the Proto-Renaissance artist Giotto or done in the Giottoesque style of art). Even then I ended up spending a good three hours in the museum just to make the waiting worth it.
Then we went and found cheap lunch at a small café type place. The waiter claimed to be drunk from the previous day (it was around 3:30 at this point) although it seemed like he had already been drinking today. I ate a cheese pizza which had a thick crust (first time I had seen thick crust pizza in Italy) and pistachio flavored gelato.
After that we went to the tent market again and I bought some cute earrings. For some reason there was very little opportunity to bargain at the market. Then we went back to the hotel and got dressed for the concert in Fiesole.
Fiesole is on the outskirts of Florence. While everyone else was eating dinner, me and Laila went and explored the town. The town was completely not touristy-it was so beautiful and cute. We found this place that had an outstanding view of Florence. Not only was the view absolutely breathtaking but the location was adorable. We met up with everybody for the concert but the location ended up being moved. We spent a good half an hour finding the location. The concert definitely had some interesting pieces, but I really enjoyed all three of the piano pieces. The location (a church) was not the best one for this type of concert.
After the concert was over we went back to Florence and got ready to go out. A bunch of people from the Georgia Tech Barcelona study abroad had come to Florence to visit. Everyone (pretty much our entire program) went out. We went to a bar called Fish, which is pretty much an American bar. We ended up coming back relatively early (2 AM) because someone had a little too much to drink and was pucking all over the sidewalk.
