Enough is enough, I'm gonna tell you now
Love, everytime I close my eyes,
You are the first thing that runs to my mind
- Crush, Urban Zakapa
It is a sunny afternoon inside the campus. The lush greenery providing ample shade for Kris, who is busy pretending to read his copy of
Annihilation: Star Wars (The Old Republic). But the truth behind his wayfarer glasses is stolen glances at the boy sitting across him: the resident campus ‘It Boy’, Kim Junmyeon.
They seemed to be an odd-pair. Junmyeon being all preppy and sociable while Kris being the I-am-so-cool-nothing-fazes-me-hipster-hot-nerd he /thinks he/ is. But they have been friends since they were in grade school and Kris can't really remember how he was before Junmyeon. Ever since Junmyeon got his hair cut and dyed red though, Kris has been having a hard time keeping his cool façade.
Oh look at how the sun hits his skin.
I want to run my fingers through his hair.
His hands are always on his face. Can my hands replace his hands?
That’s probably how an angel looks like.
I’m feeling quite hungry and his lips look sumptuous.
Have I said I want to run my fingers through his hair?
If that’s not how an angel looks like, then it SHOULD be how an angel looks like.
Junmyeon’s voice pulls Kris out of his reverie. “Is that another one of your ‘I-did-it-before-it-was-cool’ um… thingies?” a shy chuckle punctuating his remark. Kris tries his best to control his heart that was threatening to beat out of his chest or jump out of his throat, both scenarios equal to his demise. He furrows his eyebrows, giving the other a quizzical look.
“You’re holding your book upside down, Kris.”
The following day, they were at the library, working on their paper for… Kris actually has no idea. He’s more preoccupied with the way Junmyeon’s Ralph Lauren polo shirt rises, showing a bit of Junmyeon’s white, flat tummy, as he struggles to reach for a hardbound book. Kris silently walks over, Junmyeon’s back towards him. Kris puts his arms forward, trapping Junmyeon between him and the bookshelf.
Junmyeon faces Kris. “Oh hey can you help me get that book. It’s central to the paper we have to write for…“ Junmyeon’s mouth hangs agape as he stops mid-sentence. Kris, instead of going for the book, went for Junmyeon’s hair.
“I knew it was going be soft but I… this is…” Kris, at a loss for words, keeps on running his fingers through Junmyeon’s hair. His breath catching as he twirls the ends.
Kris traces Junmyeon’s jaw and guides the other’s chin upwards. He leans down to catch Junmyeon’s lips in his. As Kris slightly opens his mouth to deepen the kiss, his eyes also fly open and his brain catches up to what his body is doing. He quickly let’s go of Junmyeon and takes a step back, muttering apologies over and over again.
Junmyeon grabs Kris’ arm and pulls him closer. He stands on the tips of his toes and gives Kris a smack on the lips. “If you promise to focus until we get this paper done, I will reward you with something even better.” Junmyeon winks. He walks back to their table, Kris eagerly following after he grabbed the book from the shelf.
