i live down the street from
porto's bakery, with its astounding 2000+ reviews on
yelp. i tend to forget that it's there, but this morning, trying to satiate a kaya-waffle sized craving, i braved the lines for some cheese rolls, meat pies and those potato balls with meat in the middle of them. lines and me tend to disagree, i fight hard against my asian programming (people in a row? it must be good!), but fresh off a stint back home i was prepared to wait for awesomeness. but the most awesome part of the morning, aside the cheese rolls? finding out that sunday morning is a line free day at porto's.
for contrast, where my parents live now (and previously too), downstairs across the street is a full wet market, hawker center and a plethora of shops. stupid singapore.
the women's world cup final today was a testament to the pure cruelty of football - few sports punish mistakes as harshly, or in this case missed opportunities.
