triple herb question

A couple of herbs have been jumping out at me lately whenever I've been doing research. When reading a section on some of the "darker" herbs in a book, Rue kept getting my attention. It was mentioned as having a very paradoxical energy (simultaneously light and dark), as well as being very useful for strong purification and deep spiritual ( Read more... )

Rue I kept reading as yew so the following should be taken with a slightly larger grain of salt than usual.

Mugwort and I are old friends. The first PMS tea I ever made for a friend used mugwort--this was before I worried much about taste. But it worked, of course after a cup your body was likely to do ANYTHING if you'd only put the tea back on shelf.

I happen to like the taste, and not be allergic to it, so I'll drink as a tea, ferment it, and use it as a wash when it's time to get the grime(physical and non-) off my crystal ball and scrying tools.

I've never tried it as incense, but given the rest, I'd suggest tossing in something to sweeten it slightly, maybe some pine- which would also lend some support for keeping the bits you want and their continued growth even during the blight(like) periods.

If you can find real, non-dyed non-plastic berried mistletoe- (hard but at least slightly easier this time of year)it's a handy herb dealing with parts of the self one hasn't embraced yet- growth, life, death, joy, and sorrow in a neat and extremely strong package. Of course, only external use can be suggested. Incense or oil are my most common uses of it, mixed with dragon's blood, and yes a dash of pine is a handy blend.

Great tips, thank you. Especially about the mistletoe and the pine.

It's really good to hear people's experiences, I keep finding out more and more about plants that I'd never thought would be useful. My love affair with stones might have some competition now.

Mistletoe is also coming in the bundle with the rue and the rest. I started picking stuff on a whim because it was x number of herbs for a certain price and after choosing herbs I knew I wanted, I had slots to fill. So I just went with instinct XD

A store on etsy, actually, that sells various witchcraft related items. Though I don't have the link handy at the moment.
